Ishan Kishan rises 10 spots to 23rd in rankings while Hooda re-enters top 100
India opener Ishan kishan jumped 10 positions to 23rd place, while Deepak Hooda re-entered top-100 in the most recent ICC rankings for T20I batters.
After their performances in Tuesday’s T20 International against Sri Lanka, Mumbai, India won two runs to move them up in the chart.
Hooda moved up 40 spots to 97th place after scoring unbeaten 41 runs off 23 balls, while Kishan was rewarded with a fast 37-run run at the top.
Suryakumar Yadav, a swashbuckling entrepreneur, remained the number one batter despite a rare mishap in Mumbai.
Hardik Pandya is India’s new T20I captain, moving up nine places to 76th place among bowlers.
Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga again played a significant role against India, posting figures of 1/22 and the ball helping the right-armer to move higher up the list as the top-ranked T20I cricketer.
Hasaranga also got a quick 21 with the bat, which saw him jump two places to fifth place on the most recent list of all-rounders.
Marnus Labuschagne is still the leader in Test rankings for batters despite losing the Boxing Day Test against South Africa.
Labuschagne, however, is close to his closest rivals, Steve Smith, Pakistan skipper Babar Azm, and Kane Williamson, former New Zealand captain.
Williamson is another big winner in the new rankings. The experienced right-hander leapt two places to be back within the top five at the fifth spot after his fifth double century, which he played against Pakistan.
Pat Cummins was unable to take a wicket in Australia’s win over the Proteas at Boxing Day, but still had a huge 37-point advantage over James Anderson, an England veteran.
