PK3Y to Certify Approximately 150,000 Himachal Farmers for Natural Farming in FY24

The Prakritik Kheti Khushhaal Kissan Yojana (PK3Y) is a scheme launched by the Himachal Pradesh government to promote natural farming practices among farmers in the state. Under this scheme, about 150,000 farmers in Himachal Pradesh who practice natural farming will be certified by the government in the fiscal year 2023-24.

Natural farming is a farming method that emphasizes the use of organic inputs and avoids the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and genetically modified seeds. This method of farming is not only environmentally friendly but also helps in producing healthy and nutritious crops. The PK3Y scheme is aimed at promoting natural farming practices among farmers in Himachal Pradesh and also encouraging them to adopt sustainable agricultural practices.

The certification process under the PK3Y scheme is voluntary, and farmers who are interested in getting certified have to apply to the government. The certification process involves a thorough evaluation of the farmer’s farming practices, including the use of inputs, pest management practices, and soil health management practices. The certification will be valid for three years, after which the farmer will have to apply for re-certification.

The certification process will not only help in promoting natural farming practices but will also help farmers in getting a premium price for their produce. Certified natural farming produce can fetch higher prices in the market, as there is a growing demand for organic and chemical-free produce.

The PK3Y scheme is part of the government’s efforts to promote sustainable agriculture practices and reduce the dependence of farmers on chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The scheme also aims to increase the income of farmers by promoting natural farming practices, which are cost-effective and result in higher yields.

The scheme has been well received by farmers in Himachal Pradesh, and there has been a significant increase in the number of farmers practicing natural farming in the state. The government has also been providing training and extension services to farmers to help them adopt natural farming practices.

In conclusion, the PK3Y scheme is a positive step towards promoting natural farming practices among farmers in Himachal Pradesh. The certification process will not only help in promoting sustainable agriculture practices but also help farmers in getting a premium price for their produce. The scheme has the potential to bring about a significant change in the agricultural sector in the state and also help in promoting environmentally friendly practices.
